ABOUT OUR VIOLIN AND VIOLA LESSONS
The Hilliard Music Academy offers private one-on-one violin and viola lessons for students starting at age 5. We have students of all ages, from young children to adults! Our violin and viola instructors are highly qualified, and many perform regularly with local orchestras and symphonies or bands. Our private lessons vary in length, with the option for 30, 45, or 60 minute each week.
Our comprehensive violin lessons include proper technique, ear training, sight reading, theory, and more. Students will gain a classical repertoire, as well as being able to select music of their choice to learn.

Professional Office Staff 5 Days a Week
Many music studio desks are staffed by the teacher/owner or more commonly, an answering machine. We have full-time team members at the front desk who are available to assist you from 12:30pm-8:30pm Monday through Friday.
FREE RECITALS AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
Unlike other schools in Columbus, we offer free recitals and other performance opportunities! Our recitals are low pressure, fun, and completely free, and are a wonderful way for students to build confidence and to show off their hard work.
LEVEL UP MUSIC ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM
Through our Level Up Motivational Program, our students climb from Levels 1 through 10, earning certificates, medals, and other accolades. Think of this as a martial arts black belt program, but for music lessons! This nationally recognized program is completely free (and optional) for Academy students of all ages and has the structure many students need. Our students have never been more motivated to master their instrument!
MONTH TO MONTH LESSONS
We understand that sometimes life happens and schedules change, so we don’t have any binding, long-term contracts. We only require a 30 day notice to stop lessons.

How VIOLIN lessons work

Choose a time that works for you using our easy online scheduler and book a 30-minute introductory lesson. It’s a relaxed way to meet your teacher, share your goals, and see what lessons are like before getting started.

Adults can start violin lessons at any time. For children, we recommend that students be 5 years old or older. Some music schools will start children as young as 3, but our experience has shown that students learn more and have a much better experience if they wait until they are 5 or older.

You don’t need a violin for a trial lesson but once you enroll you will need an instrument to practice on at home. Your teacher can give you specific recommendations based on your goals and budget.

No problem at all. We offer unlimited makeup lessons with 24 hours’ notice — just give us notice and we'll find another time that works. We understand that life happens and we never penalize families for it.

No long-term contracts, ever. We operate on a month-to-month basis and only require 30 days notice to pause or stop lessons.

Our instructors are highly qualified, holding either a degree in music or very extensive performance and playing ability. For our degreed teachers, they have received their education from prestigious institutions such as the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, The Berklee College of Music, Oberlin College and Conservatory, The Ohio State University, Capital University, and many others. For our instructors with extensive or exceptional performing ability, they are thoroughly vetted by our school owner, Chad Ebert.
In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and dedicated to teaching you the style of music that you want to learn in your music lessons.
